Extremely Nervous... :(

Looked through some of the chance-me things... and all the ones I encountered (3 or 4) are extremely good compared to me. I feel like I have no chance at all if mostly all of the applicants are like the ones I saw.

Should I continue and go for the top boarding schools (Exeter, Andover, Milton, Choate [how do you say Choate anyway?], et cetera) anyway? Also, how do you know if you are fit for a school before you interview? Just by reading through the websites? If so, can I have a link or two?

I'll probably have many more questions later. Thanks for reading!

doomedforfailure, im going to call you destined for success.
destined for sucess, Don’t be discouraged by “Chance” threads. Work hard, and you will find a school that loves you. Talk with your parents and decide which schools you think would be appropriate for you. This is how you pronounce Choate: [Merriam-Webster Pronunciation](http://www.merriam-webster.com/cgi-bin/audio.pl?bixcho01.wav=Choate)

Good luck and enjoy the process. You really learn more about yourself through these applications.

Aw thanks. >.< I don’t know… they don’t know much about the schools either; they only checked the top schools and looked at financial aid. I’m not sure about how to research and see which schools fit to me. :-/

I also saw that you were answering Choate Rosemary Hall questions. I don’t know much about that school, so could you tell me about the sports? Well, sports in general? Do you have to do sports in order to get into a good boarding school like Choate?

Thank you so much for answering my questions and for your tips–and also for the pronunciation of “choate”. :)

@doomed:

That’s what campus visits are for. They give you the feel of the campus. If you feel like the school meets your particular interests that you have, you should go for a visit to see if it’s right for you. You probably go to this thread for some less selective schools: [Hidden Gems: Lesser-known Prep Schools](Hidden Gems: Lesser-known Prep Schools - Prep School Admissions - College Confidential Forums) . These schools have higher acceptance rates, so it should be easier to get into.

Trust me, when I looked at CC for the first time, I thought I wouldn’t get in anywhere! You can still find my chance thread in the “chance me” section–I’m by no means EXTRAORDINARY, at least I don’t think. A lot of students on CC are VERY driven, meaning you’ll probably find very good students on here, students who are very talented and bright. The fact that you’re on a college/prep school site shows that you’re dedicated to the schools you want. If you show that kind of passion in your interview and essays, then there’s nothing really to worry about. I don’t know your statistics or extracurriculars, but you really just shouldn’t doubt yourself. Whatever happens, happens for a reason! (:

If you’d like me to answer any Andover questions, I’d be happy to do so. (:

Who will be the next headmaster of Andover?

I don’t think ANYONE could answer that one for you, sorry.

When I applied, I thought that I had absolutely no chance if getting in either, but it happened. Sometimes, we doubt our abilities and don’t see the full potential that we hold, so apply to the schools that you think suit you, top schools included
