I took the SAT for the 2nd time in March and got an 660 CR, 580 M, 780 W.

I'm retaking it on Saturday for a final round, but I'm scoring consistently on every practice test I take, so I don't think my math score is going to go up any. I don't really know what to do at this point, so I'm just kind of shooting for something that can quickly help me? It's obviously too late to get a new practice book...

I've been using the Blue Book. Yeah. So. Any advice to help me in three days?

One of my D’s had uneven SAT scores too. She only took it once spring of junior year and scored 780/690/760. Her math score was not in the range of the schools she was interested in. Counselor suggested she try the ACT. Apparently 25% of students do much better on ACT, and she fit the profile in his opinion. She took ACT once without much prep and got a composite 34 (out of 36). Breakdown was 36 Reading, 28 Math, 34 science, 36 English. As you can see, the math is still relatively low, but because of averaging the 4 scores, it doesn’t have quite the same negative impact. Is the ACT something you can try or would be willing to try?

I should also add that before she decided to go with the ACT she was studying SAT math from Dr Chung’s book - it was expensive and unless someone can loan it to you tomorrow (and you take the next two days off school to study!), it probably wont do you much good for this weekend. But if you decide to try the SAT one more time, Dr Chung’s is the gold standard I’ve heard.

Don’t worry, my SAT scores at first were even more inconsistent. First practice test I scored 560 R, 800 M, 520 W or something like that. I ended up improving writing to around 670, but reading only improved a little. However my ACT score was much more consistent, and I did much better on reading. You may want to give it a try.

Take a bunch of practice tests. At this point, there isn’t much that can be done.
