So, I’m applying to a school and the due date is the 15th. And I’m very worried because the online portal says that 2 of my recommendations aren’t in! I’ve talked with the teachers and they’ve said that they are working on sending them in but I’m in a constant state of anxiety, worrying I won’t get my application in by the 15th. Can materials be submitted on the 15th??? I feel like it’s really out of my control and in these two teachers’ hands whether I get in or not and it’s terrifying me. ERRRR
Recs can be submitted on the 15th, so don’t worry! My principal and my extracurricular recommender actually submitted their rec today (and one of my schools were due today). Don’t worry and good luck!
My math/english teachers haven’t started yet either. I sent them both an email a couple of days ago but they haven’t responded.
@goldenfygg: I feel your pain. I am still waiting for my recommenders, as well as the school report to get done. I’ve sent emails, reminders, phone calls, etc.,…sigh
Don’t tell anyone, but the boarding schools have been doing this for years and build in lag for supporting materials. If you don’t turn in everything you have control over on the 15th (or before), woe be unto you! (Even then, they MAY consider you for the March 10 date if you notify them immediately and ask for forgiveness).
However, schools will start reading application files on February 2. They will be using the two weeks to check to be sure the files are complete, and to send out reminder emails.
So, don’t get all upside down over it. Remind your recommenders, and tell them you are counting on them; but know that you will not be penalized for missing a deadline that was out of your control.
And remember, the folks in the admissions department are friendly. If you do not believe this post, then call them directly and find out from them. How do you think I know what I am posting here?
Thank you @mathman1201 and @ItsJustSchool, you’'ve done well to assuage my worries
