F 1 visa

LOL, Jrock. I actually deleted that post about 10 minutes after I posted it, because I read this thread more carefully, and I thought I found the answer to my question. Thank you for your reply.

WOW... Kenyon asks intels to pay them an extra USD 100 (together with the deposit).. :(

that extra USD100 is for the SEVIS fee, I believe.

most welcome, maxy

I am also an International student and I have some questions.... I sent my Certificate of Finances form in mid-April.... when will I receive my I-20 form from my university? And how long does it take to obtain my F-1 visa from the US Consulate?

Thank you very much

I think it depends a little where you're from... (where are you from, btw?). In Switzerland, it takes about two weeks, but there is a chance that I'll have to wait for an appointment.

i don't know how long it takes for your school to issue the I-20; you should contact your admissions officers as regards that. and about the visa waiting period, it varies from country to country as Nora has rightly pointed out [to Nora: how're you, btw:)]
yt660, i used to think that the visa waiting period for an F-1 was a maximum of two days, but i guess i'm wrong. however, the time between applying for a visa and getting an appt. varies wildly. however once your visa is successful, you get your visa whenever you're told to return for it [here it's 24hrs].
you could also visit the US embassy/consulate general website for your country, where you'll get all the up-to-date and accurate info relevant to your situation.

I think that it takes about two days to get it, after the interview... I already calculated in the to be expected normal waiting period (when there is no long waiting list, or whatever it's called). I'm fine, thanks... (I got a really bad physics grade last week and have to study a lot... why does school end so early in America? How about you?

Yeah, that's why it's absolutely beneficial to apply early!

Sorry about your physics. Well the last exams I took[a-level] were last year june. Back home schools begin the year in august and end in june/july. But in America, i guess it's one long summer - mid-may to mid-august!! it's a nice system, i think.

I'm already on the hunt for the cheapest ticket! The earlier, the cheaper...and so much the better.

I got my ticket already. But they're so expensive right now, with the oil prices up and all... I pay the same amount of money for a one-way ticket to Boston that I paid for a round-trip ticket to Chicago last year...

O, and I just got my I-20!

Wow! Many congratulations!! Stage One clear!

hey guys i got my I 20 long back from university of virginia and now my interview for F1 is on 22nd may...just wish me luck and post me any experiences you know regarding the interview...I am really thrilled and excited for the interview!!!!

best of luck manuj_pro:):)

Hello everyone!

Well, considering I'm making my first contribution five pages in, I imagine that a few introductions are in order.

I got into Amherst and I was not asked to send a cert of finances form (they only request for that from students that got in without finaid). But, I was asked to fill another form before I get my I-20 and fax it (lucky me! lucky me! No express mailing). The school said that they would send my I-20 to me by express mail but I haven't received it yet.

Jrock, when did you mail your cert of finances?

manuj_pro, good luck. Hope it will be easy!!

I also noticed that we have a few "francophones" here. I've already met Jrock. So, Nora: Comment ca va? Bonne chance!

I didn't do too bad did I? (he says with his eyes closed, trembling)

Hi, switch! my "cert" reached Williams last friday. i don't know when they will send my I-20. when they say "express mail" that may mean anything from 1-3 weeks. Williams sent my admissions package thru USPS/EMS and I got to me in 21 days. I don't know when I'm going to get my I-20, but i'm waiting. HAPPY WAITING, lol:)

I made my appointment today for my visa interview.

It's June 19th. MY 20TH BIRTHDAY!

Evilness!! The anxiety!!

Great!! go well:)
