FA for ED

Okay, I'm slightly confused about the Financial Aid packages for ED... Would you get less money than if you applied with RD, or the same amount?

I'm sure this has been addressed elsewhere, but I can't seem to find the link, so I'd appreciate any answer. :) Thanks!

Cornell’s FA is entirely need-based, so it’s not like other schools that give out merit scholarships where ED students would be at a disadvantage. Basically, Cornell uses a formula to determine what you can pay and then gives you FA in that amount. A closer look at the specific FA policies can be found at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/754340-prospie-prospie-cornells-financial-aid-policies.html</a> .

Oh, thanks so much! That was really helpful! :D

This has been discussed to the nth degree. You will get better answer in the Financial Aid forum. Rule of thumb, if you need FA don’t apply ED with any school.

That’s a pretty good rule for 99.9% of schools, but if you fit into one of those categories guaranteed full COA then I don’t see why you wouldn’t go ED.

Oh, thanks, malan89. That was a really awesome post. :)
