FA refunds

I have been waiting for my FA refund for two months the money appeared in my account on 9/17/13 the school website say 2 to 4 days then direct deposited. Well that was a month ago. I have found websites where students have complained and are getting together for a class action law suit. I have been in school for two and a half months. I cant get any clear answers from the school. What can I do if I think the school is holding my refund and will not release it? Oh yes I received the credit balance and a email stating I was a full student. I emailed asking questions on 10/08 i was told my money would be in my account in 2 to 4 weeks. that has not happened then three days ago I was emailed that they couldn't find my transcripts from the other school and threatened to kick me out unless I filled out a form stating that I have to keep a passing grade for a year. I then saw where some students were done the same way and then no matter how good they were doing in class they found themselves failed and kicked out ending them owing the school money and the source of their loans. FA money not being sent to students or to fa sources just vanished. I'm extremely upset what can I do?

I would NOT sign any forms until you consult with some kind of financial aid official IN PERSON. It might just be a case of your other school not sending your transcript or of some kind of massive clerical error. You never know.

IF that’s not it and they’re still being vague and aggressive, I’d contact a lawyer.

But you have to know exactly what’s going on first.

Amy…I’m assuming your bills to the college were paid already from your aid. What exactly are you getting a refund OF? I would think something like the Pell would be used to first pay the school anything you owe them.

If you are waiting for a refund from a direct loan, it is very possible this won’t be disbursed to you soon.

And some schools do NOT do refunds at all until the END of the term…to be certain that students actually complete the courses.

Re: doing well on the courses…the school wants to be sure you are completing the courses with satisfactory grades. They do not want to pay you money for failed courses.

ETA…they told you 2-4 WEEKS from October 8. Two weeks would be October 22. Four weeks would be November 5. Neither of those dates has passed yet.
