I'm pretty sure that everyone else in this forum except for me and a couple of other holdouts has a facebook. I just wanted to know what benefits there are other than keeping in touch with friends.

(a) keeping in touch with people who leave for college
(b) communicating with friends when they don’t use their email/text/phone, or when you’re too lazy to send one
(c) communicating and getting in contact with people that you hardly know for projects

that’s about it.

I actually have one but never use it. I know people that are literally on there 24/7 but I don’t understand what they do for so long.

I mostly got it (this year) because my friends have been nagging me for so long about it.

stalking, for some
and the new facebook actually makes it even more accessible
lol

I have a paranoia of putting my personal info online and block all the info people can see. I heard that Facebook is a big factor for networking if you want to get into a decent fraternity/sorority in college though. Is this true?

it’s srsly just 99% something to waste your time on
& 1% necessity.

I completely agree with skylithorizon and smarteeangel101.
It’s just a way to keep track on what your friends are doing and for them, what you are doing…
Kind of like a leash or surveillance system…

Too bad that it is totally addicting XD

good for stalking.

Yep, I think Secret Asian Man covered it pretty well.

It basically wastes your time and makes you procrastinate even more hahah.

It’s freaky how stalker-ish the new facebook is though.
Any breakup is like known to the world in a few seconds.

^ I hate those status things

when people break up is like

“OMG did u read the facebook status?”

lame

It’ better than myspace.

for high school… facebook is only good for events, groups, and like mass communication through messages. other than that it’s just used for stalking and looking cool.

although i’m not in college yet, i can definitely see the benefits of using facebook… meeting people at your school/major, events, groups, and keeping in touch with old friends.

Ahhhh I know. It’s all around the school the next day and people are like “Where did you hear that??” “It was on FACEBOOK, duh.”

(Hey! I’m a newbie poster on here, haha.)

Yeah, I’d have to agree that facebook is primarily stalker central. Of course, they had to further this aspect by changing it recently to be like Twitter, which is, in some ways, more of a stalker haven. =l
