So should I get a facebook? Is it really that convenient? What are the benefits? Disadvantages? So if I make one, do I just make an account and start adding people I know? I don't know if I should make one, because even if I do, I won't really go on it much. It sounds boring.

Facebook rules.

It's not that interesting. Don't bother.

it's okay...not all that's it's cracked up to be though.

if you have really boring friends who stay home facebook is boring

i have crazy funny friends so facebook is really fun

Pros
-You actually know who's adding you and to whom you're talking
-Much cleaner profiles
-Applications

Cons
-Fewer people use it
-Profiles are not very customizable

If most of your friends use myspace, just use that. I heard that a lot more college kids use facebook.

I do it for Facebook stalking - it can get quite useful, actually.

When have applications ever been a pro?! Ever since they've been released someone is always bugging me to throw a sheep at them or challenge them to a vampire fight or some other nonsense. Not saying that all apps are bad, but most of them generally suck and Facebook was a lot better without them.

As far as a comparison to MySpace, FB is waaaay better to me since more of my friends use it over MySpace, and it's easier to communicate, organize events, and find people.

It definitely is a lot of hype though. Interesting at times, but generally boring.

if you can get on a network for school or something, possibilities for stalking are endless :)

Seriously...every day I log on it says "1 million new requests!'"

ok maybe not 1 million, but it's always some ridiculous number that I just ignore. I hate those stupid apps.

Nothing argues with the stalking capability conferred to you by a Facebook account.

IMO, there is no better time-eater. XD
Seriously, though, I use it to keep in touch with friends who live far away (i.e. friends from summer programs), and for that, it's very useful.
And you do have the option to keep your profile private, so only your friends can stalk you. :P

Wish there was an app to see who viewed your profile how many times.

Some apps are annoying with all the requests (mob wars particularly), but I do enjoy some of them. Super poke and nations come to mind.

thankfully, you can block application requests by clicking "block this application"

now I hardly ever get application requests

powerbomb how is stalking helpful??

Its great to keep in touch with people in different communities..I use it to see how old friends are doing and many college students use it to stay framiliarized with their highschool buddies

I think it's awesome. My friends and I use it to organize parties and etc. After graduation it's been pretty helpful in keeping track of when everything is happening. The groups can also be pretty helpful in organizing student movements, silly things within the school, or whatever. I also like the fact (this is a big pro) that you can share photos/videos and you can comment on them.

Now it's been good with getting to know people from the college I am going to, and good with knowing any current events about the college.

And agreed with Crazyazn, I am still able to keep in touch with some friends I met years ago and probably would have stopped talking to otherwise.

I think you should get a facebook my sister told me that everyone in college uses them instead of myspace. If you are like me and about to go to college than i think you should at least get one, try it out, and see if you like it

It helps with meeting girls. If you meet a girl at a dance, you tell her your name, and she adds you. Good indicator she likes you. If you meet a girl at a dance, you can add her, and begin messaging, and get her number later. :D Works for me.
