Brown’s faculty quality, on average, is one of the best. But the school’s faculty is also only numbered at 600 (excluding staff and researchers). So I know Brown can’t boast of having a few-dozen Nobel laureates (who received them during their research there) like Harvard or Princeton or Berkeley (Harvard or Berkeley has 2000+ professors who are research oriented)… we’ve had our Gordon Wood or our Leon Neil Cooper in history and physics…but Cooper is old and Wood is not science (he’s also retired/Emeritus).

But anyway, this year seems promising for some of our faculty:

Gerald Guralnik won the prestigious “J.J.Sakurai Prize” for the co-discovery of the Higgs Boson. He and two others wrote the most theoretically perfect paper of the 6 co-recipients of the prize.

David N.Weil and Oded Galor have developed the Unified Growth Theory which solves the problems faced by the neoclassical models of economic growth. The theory which involves Malthus is very revealing.

Any thoughts on these three professors?

I think the three will eventually receive the Nobel Prize some time or later.
