I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not I could use a highschool recommendation from a teacher if I was applying as a transfer student to Harvard? I will have completed two years at my community college by next fall. Is it preferred to have college professors give recommendations only?

The important thing is to have them emphasize both your in school and out of school performance.

I'm asking my HS teacher to write it because he has seen me do well in class and in competitions. The other two have seen me perform well in competitions.

I've talked with admissions officers; they seem to be in agreement.

I'm also applying to Harvard.

But, you should check with the admissions office rather than asking random people like us.

My HS teacher will only be able to comment on my HS performance, I was also in Mock trial in HS which was run by the same teacher I'm hoping to get a rec from. The only reason I want to ask her is because she wrote me an excellant rec when I graduated HS but because I only applied to UC berkeley and Davis I never got to use it, as those schools don't accept recs.

My HS stats were about a 3.96 out of a 4.3, I'm retaking my SAT because I don't think my score of a 1310 is high enough for Harvard or Stanford.
My current GPA is a 3.89 hopefully a 3.93 after this semester and a little higher after next. I'm taking 17 credits this term and next. Took 16 credits the previous two terms and have taken the three honors classes my community college offered. I know Harvard's a long shot, but it wont hurt to apply. Also do you know anything about legacy students, my college professor mentioned something about if I had a relative that attended Harvard it would help my chances, I don't know how true that is or how much it helps.

Your HS teacher rec, if s/he can only comment on your performance two years ago, is virtually useless in transfer admissions. They want to see how you're doing now, not how you performed before.
