To all parents or to those who already filled out the FAFSA, do you have to write down the info from the 2010w-2 report from his personal accountant?
Where do you get the info to fill this out??

PS. I'm apologize if this is a stupid question but I'm doing most of it myself :(

Also, did you already receive the 2010w-2 report?

Your 2010 W-2 forms should be in your hands by the beginning of February…that is the date by which they are supposed to be received by employees. Your ACCOUNTANT doesn’t get your W-2 forms…you, the employee, gets them.

Re: the FAFSA, if you don’t yet have your taxes completed or haven’t received your W-2…you can look at your last pay stub from 2010 which should have year to date earnings and taxes on it. If your income is similar to 2009, you can use that info and make adjustments using your end of year pay stub.

You would complete the FAFSA with estimates based on the above info…choose “will file” as your status on the FAFSA which means you WILL file but haven’t already done so. Submit to your schools. Then do your taxes ASAP…when you get them done, go back into your FAFSA…change the fields that are reflective of your accurate 2010 tax return numbers, change filing status to “taxes completed” and submit again.
