Ok So i Worked in the summer of 2011, and I got another job for the christmas season and my mother worked for 3 years (it's just us)

I got a w-2 wage and tax statement in the mail from the Christmas season job. I didn't receive any w-2 related info from my summer job.

Supposedly my mother doesn't have any forms, and I'm starting to get annoyed because she is acting like this isn't important, yet she wants me to get into a good college that she cannot afford

Can somebody please help me

The stupid thing I did last year was throw away my w-2 forms from 2010 when it clearly said DO NOT THROW AWAY so I can't guess-timate for the FASFA or CSS Profile

My mother has no forms, and I gave up on her because she has this ditsy attitude for some reason ( she wants me to fill out both the FASFA and CSS profile by myself because she doesn't understand them -_-)

And to make matters worst, my father (non-custodial) doesn't have any forms!

This is just one big LOL. I wish I could win the lottery and just Flip off this whole mess

TL;DR'

1) How do I fill out FASFA without W-2 Info from 2011 or 2010?
2) Where can I get that information online, if possible

Thanks

You can order your transcripts for 2010 from the IRS, which will include the Federal info from the W-2. They can be mailed to you, or, if you call during the day, they will fax them over. For the 2011, the W-2s are still being mailed out.

Your summer employer has until Jan 31 to send you your W-2, so that could still be coming. What do you mean your mother doesn’t have any forms? Does she work for cash? Does she usually file taxes every year or not?

1) FAFSA will take estimates until you get forms that let you update it will actual numbers. W-2s are not required to be sent by employers until January 31. FAFSA doesn’t care about 2010. FAFSA each year, starting January 1, is concerned only with the previous year.

Ask her for her 2010 tax return which she should have filed last year. She may have used a paid preparer, in which case she should have a copy or be able to get one quickly from them. Then ask her if she has her final paystub(s) for 2011 and final bank/investment statements for last year. You should be able to get a reasonable estimate from these.

Do you have your final paystub from your summer job? Do yourself a favor and set up some sort of box/envelope/folder system where you keep important things like tax information, FAFSA SAR, etc.

Hopefully you also have an affordable school on your list that you’d be happy to attend. Did you look into how much FA is typically offered at the schools you applied to? I imagine it would have been somewhat difficult to estimate your EFC without the income/tax info you’re now seeking.
