I got an email from FederalStudentAidFAFSA@cpsemail.ed.gov about a fafsa correction submited by school. but when I logged in, my "corrected" fafsa or SAR shows income that absolutely can't be true. my financial aid is still listed the same based on what the school is showing me online. I don't know if I should do anything. is this email legit? it looks a little funny

If your SAR on the FAFSA web site has been adjusted then yes it is for real. Schools can amend FAFSA if they believe there was an error in the original data submitted.

It has .gov at the end, I doubt it could be fake O_O.

but the adjusted income is wrong. yet my financial aid package stayed the same. should I do anything?

colleges re-jig numbers to justify their decisions, even if it looks wrong or like a fantasy, it generally doesn’t affect fin aid packages.

The aid may not be adjusted yet … that could be the next step. Did you only send your FAFSA to one school? If so, call them to find out what is going on.

I think it may be fake I got an email from this email about 2 days after I went on the fafsa.gov web site saying I still needed to correct the fafsa. go to Fafsa.gov and NOT to the link in the email

Closing thread - this is from 2011.
