<p>Apparently there’s a limit on how many times FAFSA corrections can be submitted online. No way to know this, of course, because this particular piece of info isn’t posted on their website. But, at some point, if you try to submit a correction, you get a red warning flag stating that you are “nearing the limit” on the number of allowable corrections.</p>
<p>Of course, it still doesn’t tell you what the limit is . . . and whether you have only one correction left or more than one. And calling FAFSA is no help. They claim to have no idea what the limit is.</p>
<p>So, has anyone here every experienced this . . . and do you know how many corrections are still allowed after that warning shows up?</p>
<p>The problem is, of course, that if we use up our last correction, then we won’t be able to use the IRS retrieval tool!</p>
<p>I did not know that. But the IRS DRT should be the ultimate correction. I did manually update once and then DRT a few days later.</p>
<p>I got the same warning now, and I have no clue what the limit is.</p>
<p>Update: Contacted FAFSA again and asked to be connected to a supervisor. The supervisor said the online limit is 15 transactions (original plus 14 corrections). So, that might be good news . . . unless it turns out she’s mistaken. :(</p>
@dodgersmom was it in fact 15 times? I am asking because I have been notified of the same message, and i still have to correct it 3 separate times to fit in all of my schools with the is data retrieval thanks
No way to know. All I know is that I didn’t go over the limit . . . but I also made sure to stay below the magic number “15.”
What I’d suggest is to make sure that ALL of your colleges have at least one version of the FAFSA - so if any school does not yet have any version, include that school in your first batch. After that, just do as many as you can . . . placing priority on those schools you’re most likely to get into, and are most likely to attend if admitted. If you get cut off before you’re able to update all schools, contact the leftover schools and ask them what they want you to do.
And if you do get cut off, please come back here and let us know how many transactions you completed before they blocked you.
And if you don’t get cut off, I’d be interested in knowing how many transactions you were able to complete, so come back and post that info also. Thanks - and good luck!!!
The limit is 30, according tto the ISIR Guide 2016-17.
