I am getting very frustrated. I get through the whole process, but when I click on the IRS retrieval tool, it doesn’t seen me to the IRS website. I have allowed pop ups, etc, called (they can’t give me an answer) and nothing works I just get an error saying “FAFSA on the Web has encountered an error. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Click “OK” to return to the FAFSA on the Web home page”
Is there something I am missing here? I was able to use it in the past.
If it is a joint return, did the parent listed first get the FSA ID? Did you amend your return? Are you putting the in street address exactly the same (Street not St., Way not Wy?}
It is frustrating, but sometimes it just doesn’t work.
Yeah, parent listed first got ID. Information is same as last year. I even went through it all. Do you mean the street address under the student info? I double checked that too.
The error is on the FAFSA side rather than the IRS side if you get the error you are getting with the tax situation you have. If the IRS DRT won’t work, I believe you get a “not found” message. Try another web browser.
just hand-jam it all in…thats what I had to do. It wasn’t that hard.
Thanks! Used different browser and it worked. Odd IE worked and not Chrome.
Yes, but often when you enter the info rather than use the DRT, you have to order a tax transcript for verification.
@kelsmom That is what I tried to tell the Fafsa helpline person. She said it was the IRS side. Just glad I got it to work. Thanks everyone!
