My mother boyfriend supports them he is their father
are you doing the FAFSA for THIS academic year…2016-2017? If so…yes…it is available now to complete.
@kelsmom As it happens the OP’s mom’s live in boyfriend is the father of her siblings. He supports THEM. How does she indicate her household size on her FAFSA? Does she include the siblings as members of her household…even though her mother isn’t providing the support?
So do u suggest making the household 2 just me and my mom ?
Let’s let @kelsmom answer that question.
I’m really not sure.
Okay thanks for everything
Okay so i went to the link provided by kelsmom to get a non filer veryification by the irs but i couldnt get didnt see the option i logged in with my moms ip number
I thought the non-filer statement was available on the college websites. Did you check there?
OP PM’d me … I suggested a household size of 7. As long as the kids live with mom and are hers, they are in her household (even if dad provides the support).
The non-filer form I suggested is one available on the IRS tax transcript website. I am not sure how it works, though - maybe if you’ve never filed, you can’t get one? I just thought it might be easier to be prepared and have that on hand, but probably all you’ll need is the school’s form. If you are selected for verification, look on your school’s website to find their Non-Tax Filer form (you can probably find it by doing a search on the website).
Can/should an unemployed illegal alien (the mom) get an IRS non-filer document?
Does the mom have an ITIN?
She probably doesn’t need to. The school may just ask for their own form.
