So, my guidance counselor had told me that I didn't have to include my step-dad's information on my FAFSA. Which is incorrect. I went ahead and corrected it later (about a week and a half) after I realized this. Is this going to totally screw me out of aid? I filed my CSS Profile correctly the first time which has more information anyways. My new FAFSA hamy new EFC considerably higher, so I assume schools would want to use that anyways?

Is my mistake going to affect my financial aid application so much, or will the just go ahead and ignore my first filing?

They’ll get your corrected version of the FAFSA. Making the correction and sending it later should have no effect on your aid. I mean, the addition of your step-father’s income and assets has an effect (as you have seen), the act of filing the correction and submitting it later isn’t a problem. Even if you hadn’t sent in the correction, the schools you apply to that also require the CSS Profile would have just changed your FAFSA EFC for you anyway.
