If applying to 14 schools, could you put 7 schools on 1 FASFA file, then re-type in all the information all over again into a 2nd (new) FASFA file for the other 7 schools? That way you never have to delete any schools and can update them more easily.

I hate that the schools you send the FASFA to can see all the other schools you are applying to. Maybe having only 6 or 7 on a FASFA would help.

What do you think? Can we do 2 separate FASFA’s???

^ I don’t think? that the schools can see what other schools you have applied to. Even if they can, the FAFSA goes to the FA department, not admissions.

When you go back in and revise your FAFSA to “have filed” and revise values accordingly (or electronically transfer from IRS) you will send to the schools currently listed (probably schools #11 through 20). Then wait for confirmation of processing email from Fafsa. Then go back in and revise the school list to the #1-10 schools and resubmit.

PS - As a heads up- my FAFSA filing for a continuing student requires electronically connecting to IRS data this year. Yet they still require IDOC of tax forms too. The filing date for continuing students is later than first year applications.

I followed the advice on this thread when I filed on the 2nd. FYI it only took a day for it to be processed. We have 11 schools so I just took one off and added the other, will reverse when I go back in with final numbers.

Now the question – if the student has say 12 schools he is applying to and submits the FAFSA to the first 10 and then waits until it is processed and resubmits it to the other 2, can all of the 12 schools “see” each other, or can the first 10 schools only “see” the other 9 and the second 2 schools only “see” the other one?

Thanks for the link to the other thread. However, it’s 7 years old and only refers to one particular college.

I’m not asking whether or not a particular college would use the info on other schools on the FAFSA to make decisions, I want to know if they can get the information at all.

I also don’t understand your suggestion of submitting the FAFSA to 6 schools first, then 6 later vs. 10 first and 2 later. Does it make any difference?

If they see the one you submit with the 10 schools, it’s possible that they would only see 6 if you did 6, and the other 6 see the other 6, since they are submitted separately But i really don’t know.

I guess I’m not too worried about it, there really isn’t anything I can do about it if they do. Filing under a different PIN is, I’m pretty sure, impossible, and since all schools require FAFSA for FA, it is what it is.

Would you apply to fewer schools or not apply for FA if you knew they could see the list?

“Would you apply to fewer schools or not apply for FA if you knew they could see the list?”

Yes, possibly. I would worry in particular about putting one or two long shots (e.g. highly selective schools) into the mix because I would be afraid that the match schools would see these names and conclude that they are not the student’s top choice.

My FAFSA has been accepted. I need to now go back and add seven schools, for 17 total. So I logon and the only option (the only available button) I seem to be given is, “Make Corrections”. Is that what I click on? I ask because it’s a little confusing. I’m not actually making corrections, there are no mistakes, I’m adding addl schools. Is that the button to click? tx

You stated “My fafsa has been accepted.” Do you mean you just submitted it and the submission was ‘confirmed’ OR was the fafsa actually ‘processed’ and you received an email telling you this.

I just wanted to clarify that you must wait for the fafsa to be processed (1 to 3 days)before you go back to delete and add more schools.

For the people who applied for more than 10 colleges, You have to make a couple of groups, each group has no more than 10 colleges. After 3-5 days sending the first group out, go back to send the second group… there is no way you have two FAFSA accounts, and send more than 10 colleges at the same day.
Colleges in the same group can see each other, and know who else you applied. If they want to do some research, they can find out ALL “guys” you are “dating”.

Hi, I have read through all the threads and have just a live chat with FAFSA rep on adding more schools. The rep said I should receive the email from colleges once the application is processed. Does anyone receive the email from the college after their submission? Also, I checked out some of the school website and learned that the process will take up 4 to 6 weeks. So there is no way to remove the school from the list and to add the others?
