Let's say my parents make 100k (4person) Is it safe to say I will not get any financial aid? And, should we estimate if we haven't filed for 2011 taxes yet?

Also, should I submit it soon since it's first come first serve?

Sorry for all the qs. im a first gen, so ill be filling this out by myself.

I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to be filling the form out all by yourself. Even if you’re 1st gen, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you know all the right financial info about your family. You need to have your parents with you to make sure that you’re including everything…savings, assets, investments, income, etc.

What schools are you applying to?

And, yes, do find out if your schools require CSS Profile as well.

Thanks everybody. Much appreciated. I will have my parents help. Accepted to University of minnesota- TC, Loyola Chicago, Butler, u of m-duluth. Most likely going to u of m twincities since I am a student there (early college) already and its close to my house.

Does any of my school require CSS. What is that?

Sorry, I am quickly typing this on my phone. Thanks CC!! Happy new years!

CSS PROFILE. there is a list at College Board - google CSS PROFILE + participating institutions. You can double check and see if they require this form for those schools.

CSS is a more thorough form, so your EFC might actually be higher with the CSS calculation. However, you have to check if your colleges require the CSS profile. It will cost $25 for a one time basic form fee + $16 for each college you send your profile to.
