FAFSA Question re: types of student aid

<p>Student loans
both work-study and student loans

don't know</p>

<p>Will my answer to this question affect the type of aid I receive? Obviously, I would prefer grants, but I'm open to any type of aid. I just wanted to know that if I checked "both" would I hurt my chances of getting grants?</p>

<p>I wasn't sure if this might be one of those financial aid pitfalls.</p>

<p>"Federal, state and institutional programs all may use the information from this question to determine what types of aid to award. If you are not sure, you should answer "3." You will then be considered for all types of aid that are available"</p>

<p>Grants aren't included here-- they're assuming that everyone wants free money. Answering "3" won't hurt your chances of getting grants.</p>
