I believe Purdue and UM were top choices…and OP says the kiddo didn’t get aid from these schools.
The student DID get aid from some other schools that were not top choices…and one of those will likely work out.

@thumper1 I give up. I’m so confused.
The daughter has a full tuition scholarship to Pitt for engineering but won’t attend because of. O Honors invite and no Chancellors invite (which BTW is a lottery type odds of winning but whatever).
So anyway I’m glad there are other OOS schools that are affordable. I was just chatting with my daughter today about this post and she said “I really don’t know of anyone in engineering who takes honors classes after the one class (Art of Making) freshman year… it’s not a thing.”
