We submitted the FAFSA form last night and already got the SAR today. We had put down that the taxes were not filed yet because they did not go till today. My husband and I then went in and selected "already completed" for the taxes, so I hope the FAFSA is complete now. I did notice that the SAR said "your FAFSA has been selected for a review process called verification. Your school has the authority to request copies of certain financial documents from you and your parents". Is this normal or did we get picked for some kind of audit? It doesn't really matter all of our info was true and accurate. Just wondering....
Oh and another thing. Our DS registered for the selective service though he is only 17. We kept marking yes for that and it kept showing up blank later. I wonder if this is because he is not 18? I don't want them to think that he did not do this. Strange.

Perfectly normal. Schools are required to verify 30% of all the FAFSAs they receive. The school may or may not actually select you. Don’t send anything until they ask for it.

Thanks - I will just wait and see if they ask for anything. I suppose this will hold up my son’s final SAR. Hopefully not…
