Fafsa selective service

Are you registered for Selective Service?

No

Most male students must register with Selective Service to receive federal student aid. If you are not registered, select Register me

Register me

My 18th birthday is in May so I have not registered for Selective Service. So will they put my FAFSA application on hold until I register on my 18th birthday?

Well since you are more than 17 years, 3 months old, you can register early on the Selective Service website, and just put on the FAFSA that you registered. Other than that, I don’t know what they do to your application if you select “no.”

Will it let you register before your 18th birthday?

oops …cross posted.

if you select no your FA will be delayed. No federal aid can be awarded unless you are registered.

Select register me.

yeah I did and they said their was an error and I have to mail it in.

Actually, I tried to dodge this “selective service” like none other.

It is sexist, antequated, and wrong. So, when I turned 18, I shredded any documentation that was sent to me. Still, I was automatically registered. W T F?

So, if they ever instill a draft, off to Canada for me :). However, if I need the number, I have it now, and I would definitely not worry about formally registering. The gov’t will do it for you  How convenient…

(Off to curse Bush… ;))

You cannot register until you are 18. If you are 17 (like me) you are suppose to register the week of your 18th birthday.

You can register at the selective service website once you are 17 years and 3 months. It will not be processed until within 30 days of your 18th birthday.

Sorry, but I dont want to make a new post. I just turned 17 last month, should I click register me? I mean I don’t mind if they actually select me or anything.
