Ok, I completed my fafsa but it says I didn’t file taxes and I did, I only got 73 dollars back from my taxes, will I get in trouble if I leave it that way? Or do I have to change it? Does it really matter???
You go back into the fafsa forms, change the ‘will file’ to ‘have filed’ and complete the rest of the steps. If you are a dependent, you parents have to do that too.
WhT do you mean the FAFSA says you haven’t filed your taxes?
If you have filed the easiest thing now would be to go in and correct that you have not filed, then have the tax results being used (likely of the parents) uploaded with the IRS data retrieval tool.
When you filled out FAFSA, did you put “will file”? If so, go back in and change that to indicate that you have filed.
Also…go back in and make sure that you didn’t put the wrong SSN in. Maybe you reversed a number or two.
Yes, it matters. FAFSA only says what you tell it to say. Why did you report on FAFSA that you haven’t filed your taxes, if in fact you have?
Were you trying to link to the IRS Data Retrieval Tool…and could not do so? Is that what you mean by FAFSA saying you didn’t file your return?
When did you file your tax return for 2015 taxes?
