fafsa

if i applied for regular decision, they say the FAFSA and CSS profile are due on january 15th. does that mean my parents have to complete their 2005 tax return forms before january 15th so i can complete the fafsa? im using 2004 forms right now for the 2006-2007 FAFSA but the site says i have to use the 2005 forms!!! on collegeboard.com it says "Please note that you do not have to file your income tax return with the IRS before you fill out the FAFSA." aaaaaaahhhhh!! im so confused. somebody please reply.

I used 2004 estimates

2004 taxes aren't estimates as they have been submitted to IRS
2005 are really estimates, as 1099s don't arrive until end of janu.
call financial aid office; nice & helpful people

I asked what they want and this was the email I got back. "All we need at this time on your FAFSA and Profile are estimates of income. " Hope that helps.

Save your pay stubs, etc. You can use them to provide exact numbers for the FAFSA even though you won't yet have the 1099s.

use 2004 numbers, then, after you file your 2005 taxes, correct the FAFSA by putting in the exact 2005 numbers. By using 2004 numbers, colleges can give you a preliminary aid package, and its always better to do it earlier since colleges have don't have all the money in the world to give out. You don't want to be the last application they see.

how do i file a fafsa?

<a href="http://www.fafsa.ed.gov%5B/url%5D">www.fafsa.ed.gov</a></p>

get a pin for yourself and one of your parents before filing

edit: I don't think the pin is 100% necessary (is that right?), but it's easier

When is it due? What happens if I miss the deadline by a day? Or a month?

...This stuff is due tomorrow??

Damnit. lol
