Fafsa?

Hi, I'm currently applying for FinAid at MIT; however, MIT placed me (Canadian) with the American citizen group and it also requires me to do FAFSA along with the CSS PROFILE and the tax documents.

I thought Canadians couldn't do FAFSA because that's only for American citizens only.

Can someone please enlighten me on this issue?

Call the fin aid office. You should not be required to fill out the fafsa.

It may be that all international applicants see the FAFSA thing in the tracker, or it could be that they mislabeled your application as domestic.

I’m a Canadian applicant also, and was a little confused. However, if you check the actual financial aid website, you’ll notice that underneath the FAFSA it says “U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents Only”.

[MIT - Student Financial Services](<a href=“MIT Student Financial Services”>MIT Student Financial Services)

Everything you need is there.

@ Blitzer

I think they just added that. I don’t think it was there before.

But nonetheless, thanks for the update.
