Fail World Hist =lazy; Math 1 = stupid??

Hi,
I am applying to the Ivies and I think I have a very strong app (I don't want to list languages, projects etc. here. I got straight As as final grades).

Only problem is the SAT. I'm an international student, prepared for 12 days, and fulfilled the requirement of taking that test.
I didn't make it into 700s and landed in the 600s on all 3 areas of the exam with a total score of 19xx.

If admissions weren't holistic applying would probably already be a lost cause but I don't want to give up. I hope you understand.

Now I am unsure what to do about the SAT II.

I'm very good at languages and one of my Subject Tests will be a language. However I am not sure what to do about the second subject test.
I have signed up for the Math I and World History tests but I don't know which one to focus on.

Is world history safer? If I don't make it into the 700s, it will look like I didn't study enough but if I don't get into the 700s with Math 1 people will think I'm too stupid and not good at logical thinking, especially because I also didnt make the 700s in Math on the SAT.

Should I use the SATII Math 1 as an opportunity to show that I am capable of doing some Math, or drop that all together and present myself as a language/social science person.

Thanks for your advice.

Do you have the ability to take the Math II? It’s a much nicer curve than the Math I. World History was hard-ish for me because it’s very, very detail oriented. Also a large curve, but moreso than the AP World History test (and probably much more like an actual American high-school class), it’s a lot of specific questions as opposed to large-scare comparison/trend questions.

Hi there,
thanks for your reply. I understand what you mean, but for me it’s either Math I or World History since the test is coming up soon and I would have to order books for the Math II prep from the states. Also Math II covers some things I didn’t cover here in Europe.

Which of the two do you recommend doing?
