Failed an AP Class

<p>Long story short: Got a C my first semester of AP US History. Thought about dropping, was persuaded not to by my parents. Got way in over my head for 2nd Semester, teacher was of no help, didn't even bother to take the AP Test - and thus i finished the class with an F. I have strong extra-curricular activities and my GPA is still above a 3.5, so i was wondering how does the F in APUSH affect my ability to get into various colleges?</p>

<p>Mind you, i have no intention on applying to top tier schools, and I'm probably going to apply to a bunch of instate schools.</p>

<p>My school offers a system where if you retake a course then the new grade will replace the old one on your transcript (and will the new grade will be re-factored into your GPA). Does your school offer something similar?</p>

<p>Even if you don’t have an opportunity like that, I don’t think it will be an enormous deal if the rest of your grades are great, especially if you’re not applying to top-tier schools. Just try not to let it happen again.</p>
