I’m pretty much torn up like anyone would be about failing my first college class and I just finished my first year. I do blame myself of course, but I really do struggle with science, even since high school. However I really don’t know what other major to pursue and my mom really wants me to do nursing.
I know I can retake it in the summer although I don’t know if I can this one or in 2020. How do I tell my parents about this?
This is your problem.
If you are not in it for you, then learning this core information will always be an issue. Are you planning to retake every science course?
What do YOU like?
Go to the career center and use their resources to figure out what careers might suit you. Ask them, specifically, if they offer the “Strong Interest Inventory” or similar. This test helps you match your skills and interests up with careers, which you can then look into and see which might suit you best. You have a lot of options other than nursing, and it’s important that you explore them, because your interest is not in nursing, and you’re also not doing well in the classes you need for it.
Once you figure out what you want to do instead of nursing/science, talk to your parents.
Question: Did you fail semi-on purpose because you don’t want to be a nurse?
Your mom probably wants you to be a nurse because she wants you to be able to get a job after graduation.
But if that isn’t something you like or are good at, then maybe you should look at other options like @RoaringMice said.
But if you continue onthis path, you need to do things differently, eg… http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-life/1920853-college-is-a-step-up-from-hs-16-tips-on-doing-well-in-college.html
