I’m an upcoming HS sophomore and recently I checked my score which was a 2 for an AP European exam I took during my freshman year. Will Colleges consider the fact that I took a senior class during my freshman year and still got a 2 on the exam? What should I do now? Should I retake next year or take another AP class next year or the year after that to make up for the lost credit?
Mostly I think that you should learn from the experience. An AP class is approximately the equivalent of a university introductory course, although spread out over more time. There is a reason that students don’t go straight from middle school to university.
I don’t think that it will make much difference to your university applications. Getting a 2 means that you won’t get university credit for a course you took during your high school freshman year, but that is not a big deal at this point.
Schools won’t see your scores until you are accepted and submit them- they will only see that you took the course - and the fact that you are already taking high rigor courses as a sophomore will look GOOD on your application. (I assume you got a good grade in the class)
first of all, congrats for taking an AP exam, seriously !! They’re tough for a reason. Colleges are aware that AP classes are tough but are only concerned about your grade in the class and not so much on your AP score. As the previous user mentioned, they won’t see your score unless you submit it. I’m going to be a junior this fall and I’ve gotten a 2 on an AP exam. I know it sucks but take it as a learning oppurtunity
Colleges will not see about your ap scores for admission. So please don’t freak out, it happens often. Don’t consider the fact that you could retake it because you could spend that time better on other classes (Psych, Epes, Bio are really easy classes to pass).
