FAILED high school. Can I go to community college and then transfer to Columbia?

I'm not exactly a genius but up until freshman year I excelled in school. Always top of my class.

Freshman year I got kind of depressed due to some personal struggles, Stopped going to school. Stopped caring about everything altogether. Totally failed high school to say the least.

I'm almost finished with my completion program and will be enrolling in community college. I'm going to work extra hard and make sure I have a 4.0 + extra curricular activities. Would i have any chance of getting into Columbia? Or am I pretty much screwed because of my high school record?

I'm really interested in attending their business school + getting to live in NYC. Plus I really just want to accomplish something great academically. Get to be one of the "chosen few" lol.

Columbia University has a very slim acceptance rate of 7%. The thing is, if you go to community college for one year, your high school statistics will be taken into consideration. The unfortunate part is that even with a very successful year there, you will still have a high chance of being rejected from Columbia University. What I recommend is going to community college or some other decent university (I recommend the latter much more) and for about two years, working very hard and then applying as a transfer student. That will definitely improve your chances relative to applying from attending a community college for merely one year. By the way, you do not have to go to Columbia University to accomplish something great academically. Good luck!
