Failed to satisfy SAT Subject Test requirement admissions

Hi all,

I didn’t take a second SAT Subject Test (lets just say mistakes were made), and while applying for colleges which require two I was wondering what colleges think of applicants who don’t satisfy said requirement. Is it worth even applying to a school such as, say, MIT considering how competitive the applicant field is? And for less selective colleges will they still consider you?

They’ll “wonder” nothing. They will simply move the application into the incomplete pile.

IMO, no, although MIT will be happy to take your incomplete application and the accompanying $75. Some might have a story of someone who was admitted without Subject Tests, but the plural of anecdote is not data. If such an elusive butterfly truly exists, one should assume there were huge mitigating circumstances and the student walked on water. For everyone else, follow the instructions.

Few colleges require Subject Tests. For colleges that require them, they’re required. For colleges that “only” recommend or consider them, you can certainly still apply, but the balance of the application would need to be stellar to overcome the immediate disadvantage.

Thanks for letting me know, a bit upset but at least I won’t be wasting my time and money.
