Not sure which school to choose. I know that Penn state is a bigger school than but has more to offer. I’m transferring as a psychology major. I’m looking for a school that is fun and has a great social scene, but I am shy and hoping to come out of my shell.
Penn State certainly has a lot to offer students with respect to social life. Almost 40,000 undergraduate students, big-time sports, and a wide variety of majors.
Surprisingly, the Fiske Guide To Colleges 2020 notes that Fairfield University has an “explosive party scene”. Lots of beach parties along the Sound. Heavy alcohol consumption.
Fairfield University has almost 3,900 undergrads. Overwhelmingly populated by nursing and business students. Lots of students from wealthy families.
Probably depends upon from which school you are transferring & what you are seeking in a social life.
An interesting observation is that 40,000 student Penn State may be the tamer of your two options.
FWIW Greek life is a significant factor at Penn State.
