I've been at a no-name community college in MN for the past two years (part-time last year, full time this year) because of various personal reasons, something to do with dropping out of high school and getting a GED. I'm just a white female though, with a family that has too much money for any diversity selection or financial aid (even though I'll be paying more than half of my tuition.)

I'm looking to transfer somewhere in the Midwest, particularly in Chicago/Evanston area. I'm looking at the University of Minnesota, Michigan and Chicago (I'll never get in, but want to try).

I need some recommendations, though, for GOOD safety schools, schools with good Russian programs, pretty campuses etc. I figure that I should just apply to a lot of places and see what happens because my stats make the outcome unpredictable.

I'm retaking the SAT because my october results came back 1890 (490 math!). My GPA is 3.39 now, as I'm recovering from a D+ and a B in two courses last fall. I've gotten all As since, in more difficult classes- which I hope they look at. I was the editor of the school paper last year and this year I'm in student senate.

Anything? I'd very much appreciate it.
