Transfer colleges! help!

hey guys,
I am in an odd (maybe not so odd) situation. I am an international student from India, currently in my freshman year at the university of Minnesota, majoring in mechanical engineering. I plan to transfer to a college which is relatively cheap/ offers fin aid to intl students after freshman year. I would like yall to suggest a few universities. PLEASE!!!
okay, here are my stats:

sat: 2070 (cr620, math 760)
satII(phy 790 mathII790 chem750)
high school gpa: about 3.8
class rank:top 10pc

College: have taken 19 credits this sem.(fall)
plan to complete freshman year wit 40 credits.
and with a 3.9-4.0gpa.
please assume i have the above college gpa.

i had below avg ecs in high school.
i will be volunteering in research work throughout freshman year, with my physics prof.

what colleges would u recommend???

my list as of now-
cornell
caltech
cooper union

I am also part of the student grp ENGINEERS WITHOUT BORDERS.

what else can i do to strenghten my resume and increase my chances.>>>>??????

What’s wrong with the University of Minnesota? You only just got there! They
have an honors program, right?
It would be seriously difficult for an international transfer to get financial aid.

id love to have to pay <=20k. otherwise, i love the place.

Cornell offers zero financial aid to international students. I’m not sure about the other two.

In all cases, it’s going to be really hard to get aid as a transfer+international student at prestigious schools.

Cooper Union takes less than TWO DOZEN people for engineering transfers.

i know.i plan to be one of those 2 dozen lol.
i am working my arse off for it.
cmon guys someone?
anyone?

lol…tell me what’s wrong with the U…? too preppy…? not sure. I hate this state so i can see why…

maybe i shouldnt bother applying over there? (im class of 2015 :D)

just get good grades, don’t tell your profs you want to transfer out already…it’s way too early…join a few more ECs that would cater to your interests like the Indian or south asian student assoc. stuff like that…

I think Cornell offers financial aid to international transfer students. Check their website!

Even if you get into Cooper, which has no tuition requirements, but the living standard in Manhattan might cost more than 20K. I think Caltech is unrealistic for you. Stay in UMTC and if you do well in the 2nd year as well, you might have a chance…
