Fall 2006 dorms assigned

Oh man, you guys already found out about your roommates? I'm jealous...I had to wait until the end of July! It's good to hear that so many people are happy with their assignments.

So if you have a triple, would it mention in the email if it was temporary or permanent?

I got broward, can some one tell me how it is

Sort of a stupid question but I have only heard people getting roommates assigned in dorms, is it possible to pick your own roommates?

My daughter will be in Broward too. It was her first choice because of its location. She visited (for a weekend) a friend who lived in Broward last year as a freshman and she loved how sociable everyone was and how centrally located it is. The bathrooms are old (and gross IMO) but clean and you will get used to them right away. You almost never have to wait for a shower or toilet stall since the bathroom has multiple of each. The rooms are a good size if you are in a double and have carpet (the left two wings have newer blue carpet and the right two wings have the old burgundy-like carpet). It is right between the Rawlings (very similar layout) dorm and Broward Dining. What else?

You have the option to pick a roommate when you fill out your housing agreement (March/April). I believe that it has to be a mutual request and they honor the LATER priority date of the two people.

I had a roommate, now I have a vacancy. Anyone put Hume down as first choice and not get it???? Maybe I'll get my double all to myself............Chances are probably slim.

Anybody received the Fall rent bill yet? In the mail or through email?

I got an email that said:

The Department of Housing and Residence Education at the University of Florida has recorded the following activity in regards to your Housing Account file:

Transaction Date: 07/03/06
Payment Amount: $1658.00
Payment Term: Fall Semester, 2006

[/quote]

As no rent bill has come at all, I can assume that that was FL Prepaid. But Prepaid doesn't cover Hume completely, so I'm guessing that another bill will come (which hasn't yet).

Thanks, MinervaMoon.

We just have to keep on waiting then.

I'll be in hume for the fall.

Puzzle solved. S received this email today:

"The rent statements are in the mail and you should receive them by the end of the week."

I think you are in luck. Yulee is being remodeled big time. I just saw it July 4 and it looks like one side is done and the other is being done now for fall hopefully. I wish my daughter would've known Yulee was to be remodelled and she would have chosen it!

Jan

Sieclan,
Can you tell me if my daughters room number in Broward is the remodelled side? I didn't know anything was remodelled at all. Her address is:
14041701 Broward...rm 417?
Thanks so much,
Jan K.

I am not 100% sure but I do think that 417 is on the newer carpet side. I know that my daughter (267) is on the older side since we had visited her friend last semester and she lived in 169.

Wow, i stayed in room 419 and my friend stayed in 417 for preview, jankrav.

It was on the newer, nicer side. There is carpeting through and through, and the bathroom isn't... awful.

That's really nice to hear. It also makes me that much more excited. I was talking to someone who happened to be an alum and she recommended that I choose Yulee (which I put down as my 2nd choice.. luckily I got it )

Im in Reid. My first choice, YAY! :D I had a really early priority date cuz i applied early decision and i chose Reid for the learning living community, which the lady told my dad at preview got priority. :) anyone have any info on Reid that i might not know? Everything is great!
