just got rejected it sucks but i think i know why.

Hey Ehe,

Do you know which dorm they are going to put us in? I heard that they try to put the transfers together in the same residence hall, but I never found out which one it will be. I would be ecstatic if it was Furnald, but that probably isn’t going to happen.

any junior transfers?

the 2300 was in the rejection letter :)

themoops-if you follow the link to the new student orientation info, they tell you the dorm and where it is, i looked briefly and thought it was on riverdale? around 108th/109th street. anyone else know anything about this?

I currently don’t know. I know a Junior transfer who was placed in Weeny (spelling). I hope they put us together. It would make the transition a lot smoother if they did.

Ehe,

I think you mean “Wien.” The dorm is so terrible that they probably nicknamed it “Weeny.” Wien has bars on the windows, is really old, and close to Morningside Park(dangerous at night).

Hey guys,

I was waitlisted as well. I also wonder how “short” the waitlist is (and previously did not even know there was a waitlist for transfer students… it must be even more impossible to get off this one).

I guess my stats weren’t impressive at all, but I took a demanding curriculum my first year @ Babson: 6 classes, one sophomore level and another honors, for a 3.67 gpa. It doesn’t seem high at all, but the avg first yr gpa here is 2.7 and I was top 5%. My second semester grades will hopefully be better, even though I took 2 honors classes.

So, to those waitlisted: If accepted to other schools (which I’m sure you guys will be, you’re all amazing!), how on earth will we continue to hold out for Columbia??? Other schools require deposits by June or early June at the latest, so can/should we ask for an extension so that we can hear back from Columbia?

Congratulations to all those accepted and I will be posting again soon to the waitlisted :-)

JessB- I followed the link in my acceptance letter, but I couldn’t see where transfers will be staying. Also, the lowest street that a Columbia dorm is located on is 110th, so it cannot be located at 108th/109th street

You mentioned riverdale; could you have meant the dorm called “River” or Riverside Drive? There is a Columbia dorm located at 115th and Riverside Drive called “Woodbridge.” It looks like it would be a hassle going to class everyday, as it is not located within the confines of the Columbia campus.

Here is the list of the dorms and their addresses:

Broadway - 2900 Broadway
Brownstones - various addresses along 113th and 114th streets, between Broadway and Amsterdam
Carman - 545 W. 114th Street
East Campus - 70 Morningside Drive
47 Claremont
Furnald - 2960 Broadway
Harmony - 544 W. 110th Street
Hartley - 1124 Amsterdam Avenue
Hogan - 566 W. 114th Street
John Jay - 519 W. 114th Street
McBain - 562 W. 113th Street
River - 628 W. 114th Street
Ruggles - 508 W. 114th Street
Schapiro - 605-615 W. 115th Street
600 W. 113th
Wallach - 1116 Amsterdam Avenue
Watt - 549 W. 113th Street
Wien - 411 W. 116th Street
Woodbridge - 431 Riverside Drive

Would you be able to post the link to the orientation site that specified which dorm we will be staying in? Thanks.

Rejected.

Completely expected. lolz

Well as long as they put as together or near each other, I’m good.

I agree. I have heard that transferring can be difficult socially, but if all of us transfers stay in the same dorm, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Hey everyone!

Just saw this thread. I was waitlisted as well. Question to other waitlisted applicants: do all of the waitlist letters say it’s a “short list”? jw…

Congrats to you guys who got in :)

hahaha yeah it says “short”…

hey guys, what sort of confirmation/email (if any) are you supposed to get if you accept your spot on the waiting list?

"Dear ORFEboy,

Thank you for your interest in remaining on the Columbia University transfer waitlist. We will be in touch by mid-June to let you know if we will be accepting any more students.

Thank you for your continued interest in Columbia University.

Sincerely,

Jessica Marinaccio
Dean of Undergraduate Admissions"

don’t be ■■■■■■■■. wien is pronounced with a “v”. duh. weeny? really now?

Hey guys! Just saw this thread took me so long ==
Accepted, but also good luck to those waitlisted! (I was waitlisted when I applied from high school :-P)
So is it really socially difficult for transfers? TT
I’m a little bit scared right now…

you should get a really short email back with Columbia thanking you for applying.

Rejected over here i just checked my status 10 minutes ago lmao
