Fall 2010 Transfer Thread

mmm i dont think so. mine says the same and i havent even sent my high school transcript yet

hs transcript?? u know they dont need that? they will only ask u that for language requirement

well, idk y but they are asking me for it. maybe the status is going to change later, but meanwhile it says high school transcript needed :/

I have 64 credits currently (I thought I was gonna pursue music but changed to PoliSci 20 credits later) so Im going to graduate with around 78 credits. As of Spring 2010 I have 64 credits with a 3.83 GPA unweighted. I’m in PhiThetaKappa and am Hispanic (as if that makes a difference). My major is PoliSci. Do you think I have a shot?

I will have my AA from Santa Fe CC by the time I apply. I haven’t applied yet because I talked to a UF advisor who told me to wait until Spring grades were in since my GPA wasn’t that high. My overall GPA is a 3.3 and the pre-professional should be around a 3.74 when I am done with these classes. I’m applying for Finance and I’m worried because I messed up my first year of college. I just hope I get in! What do you think my chances are? I doubt this matters but I am active in many of UF’s organizations, as well as Santa Fe’s.

I should have said this in my other post but I applied for Summer B 2010, does anyone know when they start notifying summer applicants?

could be a while. i applied for summer b myself, and they are at the “referred to final college” stage, and I’m waiting patiently haha. good luck.

^ Yeah, mine says the same thing. Guess we just have to play the waiting game. Good luck to you as well and to everyone else. :)

I’m hoping to transfer to UF for Fall2010, but I am a little worried about the fact that I am not coming from a Florida CC. I’m a Florida resident, but I currently attend UNC-Chapel Hill, and I have a 3.6 GPA. Does anyone know which colleges have the fewest spots each year? I want to apply to CLAS, but they’re website makes it sound like its almost impossible to get in without an A.A. Does anyone have any advice or information that may help me? Thanks!

I dunno bro, i heard it’s less than 10% for us out-of-staters. Honestly, UNC is not too shabby, so if you end up getting rejected, you’re still in pretty good shape. What program are you applying for?

My application was transferred to the college of engineering for a final decision in January…after looking at forums from last year, I don’t think I’ll hear back until April, but I can hope. :)

My stats:
AA transfer from Florida CC
Civil Engineering
Pre-prof: 4.0
Overall: 4.0

Skibum200, what’s your major? I’m curious as to which colleges reply the fastest.

yeah I sent my application in August, and my status is still “sent to college for final decision.” And I have 4.0 GPAs down the line too, transferring from florida CC with AA in may and pre-reqs completed by the summer.

Hopefully they can get back to us asap, although I know they won’t

landonlichtman- applied to CLAS for an English major. I’m really hoping to get in. I miss Florida! A lot of people that I’ve talked to and have that if you have good academic standing and come from a good out-of-state school, then there’s a really good chance of getting in, so I feel like I should just quit investigating and just go with the most positive answer and hope for the best. Less stress while waiting that way!

Hi everybody.

I just applied for UF Fall 2010, but I am a bit concerned if whether I wasted my time or if I actually stand a shot. I wrote a decent essay and everything is already submitted, fees and everything.

I am transferring out of FIU with more than the 60 credits required, hoping to get into the Microbiology and Cell Science Department within CALS. Right now I have a 3.3GPA (Physics I brought it down dramatically), and a 3.3 Critical Tracking Course GPA. I have read what people have been posting, and I feel really stupid for applying. I don’t have a 3.7 Pre-professional GPA, or an AA. I go to a state University, and I hear conflicting arguments that Uni students dont get preferential treatment to CC students, while other people say they do.

I work two jobs, and I participate in research at school. All of this I included in my Statement of Intent. I want to go to UF so badly, but I do not know if I am going to make there. I already applied once, as a Senior in HS but did not get in. I dont know why though, I had a 5.0GPA, 1300 SATs, and 200 Community service hours, and Johns Hopkins Admitted me.

I know this is long, but does anybody think I have a chance? I already posted this on another thread, but this one seems a bit more relevant.

Cubanflorida, you say you have more than 60 credits, but not an AA. Which classes are you missing? Is there any way you’d be able to get those courses completed prior to Fall? While UF does seem to prefer CC transfers to university transfers, I would imagine that an AA would definitely help you.

I have no explanation as to why they didn’t accept you as a senior. But as for whether or not you have a shot as a transfer, I would suggest looking at some of the “accepted/rejected transfer” forums from last year to see if you can get a feel for how good your chances are.

Sorry I can’t offer up more information. I wish you the best of luck.

Being an out of state student with a combined GPA of 3.85 (Hobart and CC) and 1560/2400 SAT, do I have any chance of getting into CLAS Economics?

CSaltiel, if you’re applying as a transfer then SAT’s aren’t even looked at. The GPA is nice, but I heard it’s very very hard for out of state students to get in.

Coffeesteph apparently I DO have an AA. I didn’t think universities granted aa degrees.
