Everything in IU’s hands: 11/1
Accepted via OneStart: 11/17
3.1 GPA, IB Candidate
1870 SAT/29 ACT

Daughter applied 10/31. We have a hard time finding where it gives the status on the portal, so she’s just been waiting for the mail. Last night she saw the email where she was invited to apply for Selective Scholarships, and according to the IU website, you have to be admitted before you can apply, so she’s in.

Non-weighted GPA: 3.3
Weighted GPA: 3.85
ACT: 31

Yup, got in last month! I applied to Northwestern ED as well, however, but if I don’t get into NU, chances are that I’m heading to Bloomington to study at the No. 18 ranked Kelley School of Business :D

Will be happy either way my life takes me!

Also, stats:

ACT 29
WGPA: 4.2
NW-GPA: 3.8
At prestigious IL HS

Im knew to this site so I am a little confused about this forum. First off, I don’t understand why all these people with 4.0 gpa’s are applying to IU that are not applying to Kelley? At my school, those people are Ivy League bound. Also, I transferred to an elite private school last year and had a 3.1 unweighted gpa with 2 ap’s and one honors class. Freshmen and soph year I had a 3.6 weighted gpa at a still elite public school. At both of these schools, Indiana is considered a safety for me. After reading through the posts I am a little concerned that this is not the case. Act scores were not spectacular 33 math 30 reading 27 science 27 english and my e.c’s are solid but still I am a little worried about the decision IU will make in regards to my application. I am from Connecticut and can pay full tuition. Also, I have taken in total, 5 AP’s and 3 honors classes. Any thoughts?

Well, some people with 4.0 GPAs don’t want to go into business, so they wouldn’t apply to Kelley. I think you’d be surprised that many people with 4.0s do not want to go to or will not get into Ivy League schools. It’s not that simple.

Indiana is a safety school for my daughter too. I would expect you would be admitted as well, but not necessarily as a direct admit to Kelley. IU posts the criteria for direct admit on their site, so you may want to take a look at that.

Good luck.

Apparently, money is not a problem for your classmates. Going to Ivies is no guarantee for success. Some students work hard to get to the 4.0 in HS while others get that + all 5’s in AP courses + 2300 w/o spending more than 2 hours of studies at home everyday. For these in-state students, parents only need to pay room and board for them at most. On the other hand, it will cost $60k a year to go to most elite colleges. Therefore, it is important for a student and his/her parents to make an honest assessment about the student’s ability to be successful in an elite college. What if the student ends up in the bottom 1/2 in an elite UG? He/she is not likely to make into a dream company he/she had in mind. The $200K just goes down the drain. That is why you will see quite a few top students in your class at IU.

On the other hand, IU students party a lot. Some may play video games most of the time. If you have the discipline to stay focused, IU is fine. If you are aiming for Kelley but did not get DA, IU is not necessarily a safety school. You have to plan for the courses in your 1st year so that you have a good chance getting in.

Accepted today!

My D got accepted yesterday afternoon! :)

sent in my app right before the holidays and got accepted today!

I was wondering if anyone here applied via paper and mail instead of online and if you did, was the decision process longer for you?

brazil–Congrats on your admission. I don’t want to take away from your excitement, but are your sure you were directly admitted to Kelley? Your stats are a bit lower than the typical direct admit stats. Admission to IU does not necessarily mean admission to Kelley. Kelley will notify you separately. Really, congratulations! I just want to make sure you understand your admission and are not confused.

You’re right! Thank you very much for clarifying that for me. Once I am a freshman at IUB I will have to apply to the school of business. Thanks for telling me that or I would never known it hahahaha

Accepted as a transfer student! I got my acceptance within two weeks of applying! Anyone else get it that fast?

Accepted today !!! Kelley School of Business direct admit international student !!
