grr…so many FedEx fake outs this week. Seems like everyone in my apartment complex suddenly decided to order things and deliver by FedEx lol (at least five), and my heart keeps stopping every time I see the truck.

I just got back from being out to sea for 3 weeks and I don’t think I’ve ever been so anxious to check my voice mail! However, I still have nothing. Congrats to all who have received the call!

Hey Yak! Welcome back!

Keep being positive. And stop checking the financial aid login. I was accepted and mine still doesn’t let me log in. No sense in stressing over a non-issue, right? Crossing my fingers for everyone!!

jmlstern,

Awesome to hear that you made it in, congratulations!

congrats jml!!!

Wow JML that is awesome!!!

Thank you everyone!!

congrats jml!! I am starting to get pretty anxious now!!!

I applied Early Action and had all of my stuff in (including transcripts) by about February 20th. I got an email today saying that I was currently ‘under review’ and should hear something by the first week of May.

I’m sure some of you are in the same boat with these staggered acceptances – I’m accepted to Smith and Mount Holyoke already, and they both require my response by May 1st, so I guess I can’t wait to find out.

I thought that if you applied by March 1 for early action, that you were guaranteed a notification of acceptance or rejection by May 1?

I thought that too, but that’s not what they’re saying now.

Well, it looks like I may be waiting a little longer. They did not receive my official transcripts, so I have to send them in again. Hopefully it will not delay a decision for too long.
Out of all the things to be missing, naturally it would be the most important part of the application.

Unfortunately I wouldn’t count on a May 1 guarantee.

Newly admitted students, congratulations!

Let me give a bit of advice/info about the next steps, in case you haven’t gotten it yet. This is all info you’ll get eventually (much is in the packet, or will be covered during APS).

Apply for university housing as soon as possible, if you’re at all interested. It’s nonbinding, and the sooner you apply the more likely it is that you’ll get a unit that you want.

If you haven’t, apply for a GS scholarship. It’s free money!

You’ll have to come to campus for an Academic Planning Session (APS), which they’ll start offering in May and continue through Orientation Week. They’ll detail how you register for classes, you can take a campus tour, meet current students, and get all sorts of important details. Once you pick an APS you should schedule an appointment with your adviser soon after (you can do the next day) to actually register for classes. You should also schedule a meeting with the financial aid department.

During the APS they’ll ask you to develop 3 schedules for the fall. You can get a jump on this by poking around the GS Bulletin ([Courses | General Studies](Courses < School of General Studies | Columbia University)), the Directory of Classes ([CU Directory of Classes](CU Directory of Classes)), and culpa.info. If you’re going full time you’ll be taking university writing, so try to find 3 classes you want to take your first semester. You can take most 1000-3000 level classes.

Got the phone call earlier today, I’ve been accepted! I’ll have to defer until fall 2013 though since I won’t be out of the Air Force in time to attend this fall. Very excited about it though!

Congratulations Wilson24!! Thank you for your service!
