What does Freshman Advanced Standing mean on application summary? Has anyone received acceptance letters for Textiles and Surface Design yet?

Advanced standing might mean that you have college credit applied… Does that sound right?

Yes, Freshman Advanced Standing is that @rachelfran. That they consider that you’ve taken either college preparatory classes or AP classes in high school.

I had that on my application as well.

Do you have received the letter yet??

Guysssss today is April 1st, FIT mails out the rest of their decisions!!! I’m soooo nervous! Fingers crossed that I get in
@AmandaBrohman what did you write your essay on?
@rachelfran what did your niece do her essay on?

Really!!! There’s still decisions left?? I just thought that they had send all the decisions out and was sooooo sad because I haven’t received yet…
make a wish that I get in…

@xCupcakeBrown Are you a FMM?

@lovegreenywu I believe FIT only mailed out early decisions to those who had very high academic standings. My grades were good but pretty average, so I didn’t receive one. But they really mail out the bulk of their decisions April 1st and beyond. So even if you don’t get a notification today, don’t worry because the whole month of april they’re still mailing decisions out. Especially since some people applied late. Those who applied early or on-time receive first priority. I applied for Advertising & Marketing Communications (AMC). Fingers crossed that we both get in :)

@xCupcakeBrown : I wrote my essay on how creativity and imagination have always played an important part in my household/my upbringing, how my parents have always encouraged me and my brothers to look at things in our own way and through our own eyes. I talked about how that foundation has led me to applying to FIT.

I then talked about my three main fields of interest: fashion, marketing and journalism and mentioned the experiences I’ve had within those (my first job was as a youth columnist for my local newspaper in mid school, I have been the marketer for a clothing company me and some friends created, for a small enterprises class in school, which was really successful and won prizes, and I’ve been a volunteer for the Red Cross organization in my city and I am now in charge of their trend and marketing departments. I also run a fashion blog which has gained a big audience) and how, together with those expriences, an education at FIT would benefit me in a future career.

That was basically it :)

I really wish you good luck! And I know that people who’ve gotten in have written essays on a bunch of different topics so.

my D got her acceptance pack. but was invited to both the 13th and 14th for accepted students. confusing.! communications so im guessing the 14th?

I believe they’re just letting you know when the admitted students days are. You choose based on your selected major. Advertising Communications is part of the Baker School of Business and Technology, the day for that is Saturday 4/13 at either 9am or 12pm. Looking forward to it.

If your major is ‘Communication Design’ then you are right and your day would be Sunday 4/14. Depends on which communication major you were referring to.
