Congrats to all of those applicants who have been accepted! My daughter is one of the lucky ones and she is thrilled!
However, I have a couple of questions:

Does anyone know how the housing process works? Does the student choose which dorm and/or room type they want. On the website, it looks like there are many options, some of which include meal plan and some that don't. I assumed that all of the freshman dorms' style of living was the same, but maybe I am mistaken.

Also, I didn't see any mention of an "accepted student's day" in the acceptance packet.... does the school offer any type of open house, or info day for accepted students?

Lastly, FIT's health insurance seems costly. Do most students just use the health insurance from their family? My experience with my older daughter at another college is that it was easier for her to purchase the school's insurance so that when she went to the infirmary, everything was covered. However, their cost is not close to the $800 policy at FIT.

penny1121 - my D will not be attending the admitted students day as she is in NYC this week for spring break visiting her sister who is also at another college in NYC. D will be taking a tour of FIT next week before she heads home to the west coast.

As far as the housing goes it looks like FIT has several choices. My D will need some type of a meal plan as she doesn’t cook for herself much. She likes the dorms that are more apartment style, but I don’t know how easy those are for freshman to get those.

For health insurance we have kept our older D on our plan and will do the same with D2. When D1 visits the health center at her college we have only been billed for any copayment under our plan.

goodfornothing, Thanks for the link for Accepted Student Day. I wrongly assumed there was no Accepted Student Day since there was no info in the admission package.
