Fall 2014 Admissions

I wonder how it was last year for Early Action applicants… whether they were all notified prior to the May 1st deadline or even way after?

Last year they extended the notification date from may 1 to may 15.

Call back and tell them your address can’t receive FedEx, and ask whether or not that will be a problem…

I kid, I kid. Good luck all.

This is just my opinion. If you are a very strong candidate then they’ll make a decision immediately and you’ll receive word. If you’re strong but they haven’t gotten to your app yet, then it’ll take a little longer obviously. If you are neither strong nor weak, then they’ll wait till all applications have been reviewed before making the final decision. So not hearing before May doesn’t automatically mean bad news. Remain positive!

@justaheadsup11‌ and @Tobrwa‌ When did you turn in your applications?

What about everybody else? Maybe this has something to do with how soon we get notified?

Hey guys congrats to those who’ve gotten in!

Are any of you trying the financial aid login as a backdoor to see if you’ve gotten in? To those who got in, did you try this?

I heard that they got soo many more applications this year than previous years, and they were not expecting this many applications. I have tried the financial log in and i get an error code. But I called Columbia and they said they have not made a decision yet. I hope I get a decision by may 1.

@pocketsqman‌, there may be something to your theory, but I assure you that I was not a very strong candidate (not just being humble).

@jemendez10‌, I submitted my application Feb 20th or so, but unknowingly had an outstanding transcript which I didn’t get to the school until about March 20th.

How does the financial aid login as a backdoor work?

How do you get the notice from GS? A phone call or a text?

What the phone number is… I have missed 2 phones so…I really DK whether I have received the phone call

@chenzheng‌, check out the GS website to answer some of your questions.

@Stein614‌ What is the link so I can attempt to log on to the financial aid site? :)

Follow the steps below:

 1. Click https://admissions.columbia.edu
 2. Type in your application ID and DOB and click “Go.”
 3. Once you are in the system, on the top right you will see “financial aid first time user.”. Click that.
 4. It will ask you for your application ID. Type it and see if you can log in.

Good luck and let me know!

@jemendez10‌ I’ve read that in the past, some applicants have been able to log into their financial aid meaning they were accepted but hadn’t heard from the school yet

anyone in west coast get notice?

@Stein614‌ Thank you.

“We are unable to activate your account. Please contact your financial aid office and refer to Code IA.” :)

@Katie1384‌ No luck. Ha!

@chenzheng‌ Thus far, three people from here have been accepted. All from the East Coast I believe.

I get the same message when I try to log into financial aid. This waiting game is not a fun game.

@jemendez10‌ how do u know only 3 people got accepted so far? Is it just from this site or did someone from GS tell you?

@Stein614‌ Three people from this forum.
