Fall 2016 Admissions

I received my acceptance letter a few days ago :smiley: Going to APS on July 7th

congrats!!!

Has anyone received a housing assignment?

Nope

Hi, quick question. I just wrote the G.S.A.E and I don’t think I did too great on it. How important is it in comparison to the overall application/ can you retake it?
I’m from Australia so applying as an International student.

Thank you

I don’t think you can retake it, as they don’t even release scores to students, but I wouldn’t stress about it too much - that is, unless you think you absolutely bombed the writing portion of it. In this case, they may be concerned that you wouldn’t be able to meet the quality of writing that is expected of students at Columbia. Ultimately, if the rest of your application is strong (GPA, reason for being nontraditional, etc.), and most importantly, your admissions essay, it shouldn’t significantly affect your chances. @Newyorknewyorkebo

I found out a few days ago that I had been accepted! See you all in the Fall!

I submitted my institutional aid/scholarship application a few weeks ago, and I haven’t heard back anything yet ,not even a confirmation email. Anyone who has already received the package mind sharing how you found out or where you checked the status?

In addition, i was accepted a month ago and haven’t received the admission package in mail. Anyone has clue?

I’m not sure how it works with international students, but domestic applicants’ financial aid packages won’t be reviewed until the FAFSA form is submitted. It’s possible you’re missing a form or two - that or it just takes a bit longer to review international applicants’ packages. I would imagine it’s the same for the admission package as well. As I mentioned in a previous post, all the documents in the admission package are available online.

@nickdrade Indeed, international students are not requiredto submit FAFSA. It is still quite odd that I never receive any email regarding my FA/Scholarship application. I may call them again later today.:slight_smile:

@calvinwong Did you submit the planned enrollment form as well? They won’t be able to process your request without it.

Also check here: https://studentviewer.finaid.columbia.edu/NetPartnerStudent/Logon.aspx?ReturnUrl=/NetPartnerStudent/

If you don’t see it, I suggest you call in with the financial office and ask about it, they should help.

I sent them an appeal for an additional $2,500 scholarship but they never replied :((

How long does it usually take to receive a decision on acceptance? I have all my docs in for about a month and took the entrance exam approx. two weeks ago.

Are people registering for classes already? I have my remote academic planning session next month. Hmm

@T2016M Thank you for sharing the link. I didnt know that I had to submit my planned enrollment form. I just checked the portal and see that there was a message but did not show any substantial information about the scholarship itself.

@frmnirmn It took me 6 weeks last year, but it only takes me 2 weeks this year. I guess it was because I requested to expedite the review process. You may call them and see if you can do so.

@calvinwong

Happy to help! The amount should appear within a couple of days, just keep checking and it’ll show. Be sure to submit the form as well if possible.

@vancehunyc

If you dont mind me asking, how much did they award you with initially?

Hi in the process of reapplying to Columbia GS, anyone have any luck the second time around? Also is anyone else applying close to the June 20th deadline?
