Hi all,
I’m planning on transferring to UT in Fall 2016 from the Honors College at University of Houston.
First choice major: CNS- Nutrition
Second choice major: COE- Kinesiology & Health
I ultimately want to internally transfer to CNS- Public Health but I didn’t keep that as my first choice because I heard it is more competitive, and I’m ok with either of those 2 majors.
My current GPA from Fall 2015: 3.437
My expected GPA after Spring 2016: 3.63-3.75 (depending on how many Bs I get.)
I haven’t done my essays or LORs yet, but I will spend a lot of time on perfecting them before I submit.
Some ECs I have from high school: President of Science National Honor Society for 2 years, 200 Hours of health science externship (shadowing/rotations), ran 2 blood drives, part time employment, NHS, and a LOT (like over 500) of volunteering hours from my religious center. Was top 5% in high school and had ACT 31 (not sure if that matters.)
In college I joined Pre PA association, and I’m still volunteering.
I have Calc 1, Bio 1&2, and Chem 1 credit (with labs.)
What are my chances for both majors? And is it easier to get into CNS- Undeclared? Thank you for reading my long post! Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, we have VERY similar stats. I was accepted to U of H Honors with a 6k scholarship(the highest before tier one) and am going to interview for Tier One Scholar in a week. We have the same ACT and basically same rank. I’m sure you were selected to compete for it. Can you tell me about that?
As for UT, I’d say you have really good chances. Just try HARD to get 3.7+, it makes a big difference. Essays don’t matter nearly as much at UT. Oh and apply to your major, if you don’t then it will be ridiculously difficult at UT to switch, and you’ll end up getting screwed over.
Thank you! I will definitely try. I was selected for Tier One as well but I didn’t do it because I received another scholarship that covered my tuition. Good luck with that though!
