fall 2016 transfer

hi i am applying to transfer to oxy for next fall from CC? anyone that transferred to oxy want to share the the college gpa they applied with and chance me?

HS GPA: 2.76
SAT:2000
COLLEGE GPA: 3.79
Units: 23
AP:
Biology-4
USH-5
WH-4
CALC AB-3
US GOV-4
English Lit and Comp- 5

major: environmental studies

Hey,

I recently transferred from CC to UCI and discovered that I absolutely loath the public research university experience, so I’m hopeful that Occidental might take me in.

Last quarter gpa at CC 4.0/4.0
Cumulative CC gpa 3.3/4.0

Summer Session at Stanford (Summer 2015) gpa 3.3/4.0.

First quarter UCI gpa 2.8/4.0 (hated two of my professors with a passion – got C+'s from them, got an A- in my other class).

I’m worried because my GPAs are ultimately low, but hopefully I’ll be able to appeal to the holistic admissions process because I’m more sure than ever before that an LAC is the right place for me as an undergraduate. (I’m also non-traditional, 22).

Major, Psychology/Comp Sci. I would prefer to design my own custom major.

@fleetfeet2016 Since you’d like to design your own major, I would look into the Johnston program at Redlands.

Hey if anyone could chance me too I’d also really appreciate it. I’m also trying to transfer fall '16

My high school GPA was: (I can’t really remember) 3.64 or something
My SAT score was 2140
I took APs in high school but the only one I did “well” on was Spanish, I got a 5

I finished last semester at a private university in California with a 3.68 and have all A’s in the 6 classes (18 units) I am taking this semester. I have also been very involved in campus life/on campus organizations as well as held off campus volunteer positions/internships.

I interviewed and think it went pretty well, the interviewer seemed enthusiastic about my reasons for transferring.
I also got in for my freshman year w/ merit scholarship (last year) but declined so I was wondering if that held any weight

Also if anyone had any idea when we start hearing back if you could share that as well

Generally, any applicant with a college GPA higher than 3.5 has a good chance. AP scores 4 and 5 are considered for credit. Non traditional students are actually quite abundant at Oxy, and I currently have a few classes with students 22 and older. However, I have no idea when transfer decisions will be sent out; usually the rule of thumb is by May 1 for Fall transfers -at any school.

I called admissions office today. They released the first batch of decisions on Wed. They said the process is rolling based. The emails will be out every Wed until maybe end of May. So it will be a long waiting.

Still waiting. D heard back from NYU film program and got in, but it’s so outrageously expensive. Hope she gets some good news from Oxy, but need to hear soon!

Oxy is also very expensive w/o financial aid. Maybe not as much as NYU. Don’t know how others pay for it. When I got in last year from Oxy, I gave up since the cost was still too high even after some merit scholarship.

Anyone get decisions today?

D did not get in. Sort of shocked since she was accepted as a freshman and got accepted as a transfer to NYU’s Tisch school for film which I would think would be harder to get into. Looking over transfer requirements I wonder if it had to do with the Gen Eds and also they state that Media majors typically need to spend 3 years at Oxy and she would be a junior so only spending 2 years.
