Fall 2016 Transfers

I know a lot of people haven’t gotten admission decisions yet, but if and when you do please respond to this thread!

Hello,
So I had a tour with my college at CSUN, on Friday the 15 of April, 2016. That same day when I came back, I checked my portal and received this
“You have applied for Undergraduate admissions as a Transfer Student for the Fall Semester 2016, as a Resident. You have indicated an academic plan of Management.
You have been provisionally admitted to CSUN. Your admission is provisional until you have completed all eligibility requirements, including any required classes. If you fail to fulfill any outstanding requirements by the specified deadlines, your admission will be withdrawn, and you will need to reapply during the next admissions cycle. For more information, visit CSUN Admissions and Records Provisional Admission.
Intent to Register (Click here to Accept/Decline Admission)
Due Date: 07/01/2016”

I did not get an email, or letter in the mail. I simply checked my portal based on the letter they sent when you first applied in November.

I go to Ventura College, which is considered a “local-area” college. I have a 3.0 GPA, solid, will be completing my Associates for Transfer: Business Administration this spring and would be IGETC-certified (But I took speech).
From what I understand, anyone not considered local area students have different requirements in addition to meeting local admission requirements. So if you attend any of these community colleges for transfer, you’re in CSUN’s local area and would be considered first pick (Tier 1).
-Antelope Valley College
-College of the Canyons
-East Los Angeles College
-Glendale Community College
-Los Angeles City College
-Los Angeles Harbor College
-Los Angeles Mission College
-Los Angeles Pierce College
-Los Angeles Trade Technical College
-Los Angeles Valley College
-Moorpark College
-Oxnard College
-Pasadena City College
-Santa Monica College
-Southwest Los Angeles College
-Ventura College
-West Los Angeles

You simply have to meet the local admissions (Tier 1) requirements such as a minimum of 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units), a 2.0 GPA average or better and the completion of the BIG FOUR (Ciritical thinking, speech, written communication and math). And they’ll have to give you the provisional admittance. Now for everyone not attending the colleges above, considered out of the area, you’ll need to complete all the Tier 1 requirements and have a higher than 3.7 GPA, depending on your major. The best chance getting in the backdoor would be completing CSU-GE Requirements or IGETC (TAKE SPEECH AS WELL) and getting a Associate’s degree for Transfer in your field or in another.

The majors that are very heavily impacted which anyone out of the area would have a snowball’s chance in hell would be: Accounting, Business Administration-Insurance and Financial Services Option, Finance which would admitting applicants into the pre-major program based on GPA. The other three is directly on people’s GPA is: Cinema and Television Arts, Kinesiology, and Psychology. Music people need to pass an audition.
