@LopApo sorry for the double post, but do you happen to know if this is for all schools such as UCSD, UCI or UC Davis for alternative majors?
That’s correct, they only consider your primary major. I am not sure how other UC’s deal with alternate majors.
@by3000 Read this: http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/transfer-admission-matrix.pdf
Scroll down to page 8. It seems like some UC’s, including UCSD, Irvine, and Davis do consider alternate majors!
@lopapo Thank you! That helped answered other questions I had in mind!

Hopefully I can write a good personal statement, barely started couple days ago.
Update: My transcript evaluation has been completed at WLAC and I have already completed most of my IGETC prep through my Seattle classes! I only need to take four more classes next semester to meet the requirements for both my major and IGETC. That means I will be sewing up my class schedule for my UCLA app this weekend!
Now that my first paper of the quarter is out of the way, I will also be starting work on my personal statement this weekend. I am both incredibly excited and nervous!
When you say 1 year transfer do you mean sophomore level transfer or junior (60 unit/credit) level transfer?
Hi, can anyone kindly give me some advice regarding major prerequisites for impacted majors? I am planning to apply for Electrical Engineering this November.
My question is, by the time I submit my application, I will have 3 required prerequisites (Linear Algebra, Differential Equation, Physics 1C) not yet completed. However, I will complete all those missing prerequisites the following Winter and Spring quarter prior to Fall admission.
That said, am I at a disadvantage not completing all prerequisites by the time I apply, even though I will complete all prereqs before Fall 2016 (and with a 3.8~GPA)?
@cyan96 no you will be fine. that won’t factor into your chances of admission (along with the fact that you have a good GPA!)
@themightybicycle Thanks for your advice, but honestly I think my GPA is on the low side for my major, given the average admitted GPA is 3.9. I’m so stressed out about the application process.
@cyan96 You can take major prerequisites through the Spring. Regarding your GPA - the GPA they consider is your cumulative transferable GPA as it stands after the Fall quarter. Try to get a 4.0, and that will reflect well.
Hi!
I’m attending USC right now as a sophomore and I’m hoping to transfer to UCLA. The thing is I’m so lost on which classes will be able to transfer, and if i’ll end up having enough units. I attended CC freshman year and went to USC with 28 units. At the end of my sophomore year at USC, i’ll have 58 units and then take a 3 unit class in the summer at a CC. Any advice would be much appreciated!
@dimples12 You need 60 units by the end of Spring for your application to be considered.
If you want to be considered for transfer make sure you register for at least two extra units in spring
@incogneato Congratulations! That worked extremely well.
@Pastas Generally, when people are talking about one-year transfers within the UC system, they are talking about people who transfer with 60 semester units in one year as a junior, essentially skipping a year of college (usually feasible due to a lot of AP credit, but I’ve heard of somebody transferring to Berkeley and taking roughly 30 units per semester.)
@goldencub Ok thanks for the clarification I was just curious because I am doing a one year transfer as well.
@goldencub @pastas thanks for pointing that out to me guys! and i know theres no articulation agreement or assist page that i can look at to see which classes transfer, so should i just try to take as many general classes as possible?
also it keeps saying that any summer classes i took after i graduated high school doesnt count…why is this? i took a 3 unit class at CC right after i graduated high school…
@dimples12 What says summer classes don’t count? If it’s non-transferable, then no it won’t count - but regular classes do. Try to see if you inputted the dates of attendance earlier on in the coursework part of the application (assuming that’s what you’re talking about).
What’s your major? Or what are you applying as?
The summer classes count, and will be added in, @dimples12. What I bet you’re getting confused about is if a student ONLY goes to CCC summer school right out of high school and not any other term, he or she can still apply as a freshman.
@lindyk8 yes! I guess I was confusing the two haha thank you so much
@goldenclub sociology!
