@2015transfer2018 generally, and this goes for any university, there are far more incoming sophomore transfers than there are junior transfers just based on the fact that there are more available positions for admittance as a sophomore transfer. I am not sure as to an exact number or anything.
There are like 40 junior transfers this year from a total of like 140(?) ish
Thanks for the responses, both of you. Here’s hoping that there’s a similar proportion of junior applicants, I guess.
Hi guys, have your materials all been received? It’s very strange that I sent in my college transcript, college report and midterm report in one package but so far only the college report has been checked…
All my materials have been received but the last one was just checked out a couple of days ago. My college sent the report and transcript together but UPenn checked them off on different days. It sounds common procedure.
@blackwidow22 Thanks! It’s reassuring.
Interestingly enough, out of the 5 universities I applied to (Harvard, Cornell, Columbia, JHU, UPenn) UPenn was the one who took the longest. Harvard was the very first one to receive everything, then Columbia, Cornell, JHU, and lastly UPenn LOL
@blackwidow22 For me Cornell took a month to receive all things (I resent once). My high school transcript was checked just today. I submitted my application on March 1 in hope to receive a decision early, but materials are postponing it…
@YonceKnowles What do you think of my stats? HS GPA: 3.46 College: 3.781 ACT: 34 Mid semester report: 3.3
I know the mid semester is pretty poor but it will go back up to 3.7+ for this semester. I just had a rough start. Applying to economics major. Also, when did you hear back?
I think your GPA and ACT especially look really good.
I heard back Tuesday, May 5, 3pm EST
@YonceKnowles thanks! What major did you apply to?
@doubleo7 I applied as an IR major but I changed it once I got here. Your intended major really has no bearing on your admissions decision. You only apply to the school (School of Arts & Sciences, College of Engineering, etc).
Could anyone chance me? HS GPA ~3.4 negative trend. 3.9 GPA in UCSC Computer Science with 2 full quarters completed. I got an A+ in my computer courses and an A- in one writing class and Linear Algebra. Applying to CIS computer science. My high-school was one of the most competitive in the country and I took many AP’s. 2250 SAT M720 CR750 W770. I had a software internship last summer and have published a prototype of a cloud based IOS app to the app store. I wrote the app in two months. I have community service from high school as well.
In addition to the previous post, I had a software internship last summer and have published a prototype of a cloud based IOS app to the app store. I wrote the app in two months.
@blackwidow22 All of my materials have been received as of today. Things sent in the same envelope can be entered at different times.
@dakness989 yes that is what I have been seeing. Maybe they do all of them in a specific order? who knows!! haha
Can someone chance me?

Honestly dude, most Penn students say its basically impossible to transfer without a 3.8 or above. Ivy League students can do it with a 3.5 The college GPA alone will make tough. You never know though. Because you are definitely a non-traditional transfer the criteria could be different.
Yes, every transfer I know had a very good GPA. I know people who had less than stellar ACT/SAT scores but had 4.0’s.
@YonceKnowles did you know any transfers with good college gpa (above 3.9) but lower high school grades? ~3.4 but 2250 sat and lots of ap courses?
