To any Engineering applicants, for my major(CSE) it says 2 writing courses are required, but are they considered part of your major GPA or do they just care that you completed them? I got a B and B+ in those 2, but straight As pretty much in my STEM pre req classes, so I’m kinda nervous the writing classes will bring my gpa down.
It does not matter now since you cannot change the grades, you already applied, and most people on CC are just students, they cannot give you legitimate opinions. Just be patient and wait my friend.
@andrewjchang No, did you? If not, do you know when they start sending those out?
No i did not. I asked them, they havent replied yet. I know there is very little chance to get the scholarship, but chance is better than nothing. I will post the info once they reply me.
@UCLAorUCBTRNSFR I also applied for CSE. Since the two writing classes are major requirements, shown in Assist.org, they are counted in both your UC GPA and Major GPA. Then… it’s pretty critical.
Hey guys! I’m sure you’re on top of this even more than I am, but just a heads up: I got an email today from UC admissions saying they needed my Winter 2017 grades to complete my application, so make sure to look out for that email and follow up on it if you have Winter 2017 coursework completed.
are they going to ask everyone for winter grades? im kind of worried bc this winters might be my worst quarter gpa wise
I think they have just started evaluating transfer applications. If you did not make any update using TAU, the system will ask you to do so for they will start deciding on Monday. If you decide to hide your grades, and get admitted, your acceptance may be rescinded.
@mightyMETA Did you previously submit your Fall grades? I sent in my Fall grades via the TAU update, but my Winter grades were not available at the time.
Are you all referring to “intercession” classes? Which community colleges have “winter” sessions?
@ald6191 A lot. My college is one of them.
@ald6191 Yea, I’m referring to intercession classes. My CC refers to them as Winter Intercession classes. Anyways, I looked it up and although I previously submitted my TAU, you can make updates till March 31. I went ahead and just added my A for Winter in my TAU.
@Nataliee177 Ya I used TAU to submit fall grades and my winter coursework wasn’t completed then either, then I used TAU to submit winter grades this morning
@mightyMETA Awesome, thanks for your response! I just did the same in case it was required. Good luck!
@mightyMETA The courses you took in winter were pre-requisite for your major? And, is your college Quarter or Semester? I go to college Semester with winter session but did not update my grade since there was not any notification to upload winter grade. Thanks in advance.
^^^ If you took winter intersession, you needed to add it.
@Allpassguy It was English 101 (first of two transferable English courses) so it’s a required class not related to my major, which is math. My college is semester + winter intersession; be on the lookout for emails from UC admissions, I’d submit Winter grades anyways to be safe
@Ohm888 I did not update it because the grade was released after the deadline for updating Fall semester grades. There was no exact date for updating either, so I thought if I update the grade, it would give admission officers confusion. Is it still okay to update the grade?
I meant you listed it as a course you were taking in the TAU, right? I don’t mean the grade.
I didn’t get the request to update email I did the tau is that a sign my chances are not good
